Description
Stabilized wood is wood that has stopped moving.
Raw wood swells, shrinks and cracks with humidity. Stabilized wood is impregnated with resin under vacuum, so the resin fills the grain and locks it. What you get is the look of natural wood with the dimensional stability of a synthetic.
Paired here with a handmade Damascus blade: layered, pattern-welded, and ground so the figure shows across the flats.
A carry knife for EDC and outdoor use, and a piece that holds up to being used rather than admired from a distance.
Care: dry the blade and oil it lightly. The stabilized handle needs no treatment.
Want to know what pattern-welded Damascus actually is, how the pattern is made, and how to keep it from rusting? Our guide to Damascus steel covers all of it.
